I race down a canyon with my speed being at least 70 mph, trying to stay on the road. My opponent crashes into me purposely, making me swerve. I hit him accidentally, driving off the road and into the canyon. My heart pounding, I step away from my keyboard, and get myself a Coke. Thankfully, I‚Äôm not really old enough for a driver's license, and I had only been playing EA's new racing game for the Mac, Need for Speed: Carbon.

Set the stage: I am in front of a monitor, about to perform some awesome licks. I leap into a wicked guitar solo and start it off pretty good. Then comes the really fast part and I mess up so many chords. I clench my guitar neck in frustration and try the song again. No, I'm not playing Guitar Hero. Instead, I'm actually playing real notes and chords written for guitar, on my actual instrument, with the help of eMedia's Guitar Method Version 4.

While Blue Raven is a new name to the Mac community, it has been around for 23 years yet only recently entered the retail space. The first product of theirs that we looked at was a competent iPod battery replacement kit, but this review is concerned with their iPod audio system, the Blue Raven Maestro 1070.

A couple of years ago XtremeMac entered the Mac platform with a vengeance, entire lines of iPod accessories, earphones, and cases, all carefully designed, and marketed. Last year they showed a new audio system, the Tango, but it was in short supply. Luckily not only is it now easily available, it might be one of the best bargains on the block.
