Recently we have noticed many people are choosing to protect their electronic devices with fitted plastic sheets that conform to the product and make it more scratch resistant. There are some wonderfully creative printed protective skins from folks like Gelaskins and Music Skins that let users personalize their electronics, but the toughest transparent skins we have seen are from Wrapsol. Wrapsol doesn’t refer to their products as skins, but as “films,” which is a more accurate description.
What makes Wrapsol different from other protective films we have tested is their strength and durability. The clear, yet slightly frosted material is cut to be form-fitting on a wide variety of devices. We tested it on iPads, phones, MacBook Pro computer of varying sizes, and it proved formidable protection.
For example, I wrapped a BlackBerry phone with a Wrapsol film and a year later when the well-used phone started to suffer hardware problems and needed to go back for replacement, I just peeled off the skin, and underneath was a perfect shiny phone with nary a ding, scratch, or mark! Just for kicks I applied the old film to the replacement phone and not only did it adhere quickly, but after 6 months it is good as new. Wrapsols are also thicker than most skins, and a tiny bit spongy, allowing the skins to absorb a bit of shock and dings with no ill effects.
The Wrapsol iPad and tablet films come in several varieties, including a glossy or non-glare version for the display, a front only, and a front and back kit. If you have a recent electronic device chances are they have a product to fit it. We especially like their laptop kits, which provide outside top and bottom skins, in addition to the palm rest area for the keyboard area. For the MacBook Pro version, the protection is two-fold, a large piece that surrounds the trackpad, and a small piece that fits the trackpad itself. They have a long list of phones they support, so chances are your model will have a wrap that fits it.
You worked hard for that shiny new tablet, phone, or laptop, so as soon as you take them out of the box, we recommend that you consider a Wrapsol product to project them. If you prefer to let your product appear as it was designed without any graphics-based skins, then the Wrapsol is the perfect solution. Or if you are truly OCD about keeping your products in like-new condition, consider applying the Wrapsol film which will protect all the wear surfaces, then a printed skin for fun over the case Wrapsol, and finally place a Speck hard Shell case over it all! Sound a little over-the-top, well probably, but we know folks who do all three!
A recent entry into their line is the Wrapsol Grip Pad, which is a thicker film/pad that is easy to grip, non-skid, and flexible. It will fit just about anything you stick it onto, from a tablet to even a laptop. We find the Wrapsol line of protective films the toughest solution we have found yet to protect your gear. Highly recommended.
