Stocking Stuffers for the Holidays – High-Resolution Music Downloads from HD Tracks, Society of Sound, and Reissues of Jethro Tull, the Beatles, and Real World Records

One of the joys of the digital age is the portability of music. Admittedly, the earliest form of portable digital audio, the ubiquitous MP3 file, quickly became the subject of audio lovers‚Äô derision due to the audible downgrade in audio quality. Apple's iPod introduced a format (AAC) that promised better sound quality with smaller file sizes, but at the same time there was an explosion in audiophile-grade headphones and earphones capable of revealing the quality of the material. What to do? The best way we know is to treat one's self to some high-resolution downloads to find out how the music actually sounded in the studio the day it was created.  We look at releases from HD Tracks, Society of Sound, Linn Records, and reissues from The Beatles, Real World Records, and Jethro Tull.

Review - Lantronix® xPrintServer™ – iPad® & iPhone® Printing Made Easy

We've been using Apple's iOS for several years in our house on multiple iPhones and iPads. When AirPrint® was included in iOS 4, I looked forward to printing to my HP printer. But alas, I'd bought my All-in-One a little too early, apparently it was one iteration behind the crop of printers supporting the technology. Also, Apple removed the ability from iOS to print to a shared printer queue on my Mac. I found a capable utility to replace that function -- but it meant my MacBook Pro always needed to be running in order to act as a print server. Otherwise, I couldn't justify replacing my perfectly fine printer simply for the perk of printing from my iPhone & iPad. Enter Lantronix, developers of the xPrintServer...
