Review – Holiday Gift Guide 2021 – Portable Docks from EZQuest & OWC

I Scream, You Scream! “Ports, Where are the Ports?” So, which is it, lighter and thinner, with no room for ports, or a bit heavier and thicker, and more built-in ports? Personally, I like the idea of not needing adapters, but hey, I’m probably a Luddite. Still most new laptops never have enough ports, and many newer drives, like the USB drives listed above, have single ports, so don’t permit daisy-chaining. What to to? Docks are the answer! In this review we look at two portable docks, the OWC USB-C Travel Dock and the EZQuest USB-C Multimedia Hub Adapter.

Review – Mac Edition Radio Holiday Gift Guide 2021 – Storage from OWC, LaCie, Seagate, & SanDisk

When digital cameras first emerged on the scene, as a photographer I used to think, “How many shots can I fit on this 256 MB card?” and I would know that I’d need to have expensive storage available to download the files. Well, those days are still with us, but instead of MBs, we are talking about gigabytes, terabytes, and even petabytes. Fortunately, vendors have you covered, with affordable, incredibly fast, light weight, and durable storage options. Here are some favorites from LaCie, Seagate, SanDisk, and Other World Computing

Review – The Vinyl Record Cleaning System from The Vinyl Record Cleaning Company – Part Two of Three

It's not often that we refer to cleaning albums as fun. But the unique Vinyl Record Cleaning (VRC) System and VRC Restore! vinyl record cleaning film, provided more excitement than we expected. In previous articles we've looked at different approaches to cleaning LPs, all of which used the same process – get the records wet, wash the dirt out, then dry. In part one, we looked at a new process from The Vinyl Record Cleaning Company of Australia. In part two, our own vinyl loving Frank Schramm listens carefully to before and after tests, and we discuss the process after having had time to spend with it. Read on for our take on this unique process. Part two of a three-part article.
